Gardeners, your climate needs you!

Sunday 24th May, 2.00pm to 4.30pm

The increasingly awareness of climate change points to the role each of us have in protecting the earth. Gardeners have a critical role to play and Ballyrobert Gardens has been practising many gardening techniques such as zero cultivation that are regarded as earth friendly. Earth friendly gardening is invariably good for wild life and the Gardens here are a wildlife haven for numerous species from woodcock in winter to long eared owls in summer. This event will incorporate areas of the garden which have not featured before; a Celtic spiral, concentric rings and Igloo Hotel are just a few of the new interest points. Note, stout footwear is essential and if possible bring binoculars. The walking distance will be approximately 1 mile.

The charge is £10 and includes afternoon refreshments.

It's cyclamen time

Saturday 19th September, 2.00pm to 4.30pm

Ballyrobert Gardens has been propagating and planting the autumn flowering cyclamen, Cyclamen hederifolium, for many years and the result now is wonderful displays of this amazing little but very hardy and tough plant. September is their time to flower and this is an opportunity to see them at their peak flowering in a wide range of situations. The event is an opportunity for gardeners to learn how the principles that Ballyrobert Gardens used to create these displays can be repeated in small to large gardens. Needless to say there is a huge range of other plants in flower in the garden at this time.
